From time to time I find myself diving head first into a girlie world that not only isn't mine, it is far from it. We all do. That's why Friends, Sex and the City and every Nickolas Sparks novel has such a large following. But they wouldn't have a fan base if there wasn't anything to relate to with the characters...
...Every mother daughter or woman with a pulse relates to the four characters in S&C. I have done my share of quoting and taking quite literal advise from that show. However, these past few days I have packed the entire first season and half of the second season of Gossip Girl into any free time I have. Yes, I am late to this party, but I'm here now more clueless than ever. This show could very well be the furthest from my reality that I have fallen for, sparkle vampires included.
I've come to terms that watching high school girls plot and scam their friends to get what they want makes me some what of a sad 23 year old. But the thing I am loving (Besides Chuck) is the adorable frenemies. Although I can honestly say I could never be so bitchy to the people I love, I adore the friendships in this show. For every brutal comment, there is a moment of friendship and loyalty. I love my real life "Blair" and she loves me. We are the less well dressed but infinitely more supportive version. She brings out all the best things in me, no matter how crazy or out of control it may seem. And I hope I do the same for her.
So please, don't look at me like I'm nuts when I say that's this is how I am passing my time...
Great post, S.
