Who needs Sleep?

Classic Duck face Shot.
Tub top - unsure
belt - had since 9th grade
jean shorts - American Eagle
tan knee high boots you cant see - you got me?

This past weekend it was friend Underwood's birthday! She looked STUNNING let me tell ya. My phone is being a butt and wont send the picture so I will have to post it later on.
We went to the country bar as mentioned. But after awhile we decided to instead head over to some friends of ours house for a party they were having.
It was a black light party. Everyone was to wear white t-shirts to mark on with high lighters to glow :)
Everyone was there that we used to hang out with, and some new faces in the crowd. I was able to make nice with Mr.X and have a good chat.
The night was a blast, and lucky for me there are no pictures to prove it!
 HA!

At one point I was dancing on tables, the next I was boxing with one of the guys. When someone near by asked, "man how much did this girl have to drink? This is fun". I heard a friend reply, "B Nuts? {yeah they call me b nuts.. classy huh} yeah she is totally sober" LOL which I was (dd and all for the birthday gal ;)

The night ended in the wee hours of the morning {6am wee} having a little heart to heart catching up with old flame Herman. He also tattooed my arm for me in cheetah print with the high lighter. I must say that I rather liked it! Liked it a lot actually..Oh NO! Kinda wanted to keep it lol.
{I didn't. I showered and it is gone now. But dang it if I don't miss it!}

Earlier that day was rather funny. My car battery died..which isn't actually all that funny I suppose. Stranded having called everyone I know to ask for cables, and asking for rides..I was left hangin'.
It was bummers ville.
If I hadn't been waaaaaay too into Harry Potter that afternoon would have really stung.
Lucky for me two things happened!
One: I've been paying too much in rent recently {I'm the best roommate EVER} and so I got some cash back earlier that week
Two: a friends hubby came from work to jump start my car so I could make the drive to Auto Zone
{shout out to auto zone!boys}
YAY I had money to pay for a new battery, blinker light bulb and what not!
Hizah!

I asked the gent to watch me install it which I did.. all on my own. Suck it nah sayers!
I went home feeling oh so confident in my mad skills and went to change the bulb in my back blinker.
This however...was tricky. Trickier then it should have been.

I asked my non crazy male roommate to come and help. Soon the cutie neighbor boy came over to lend a hand. And when his roommate came home he brought beers and an extra set of eyes... next a friend of these boys drove up and pulled over to stop and help.
Which means YES. I had FOUR guys all trying to fix the bulb in the back. First the compartment wouldn't open. Then it wouldn't close. As my sister puts it, my car is now picking fights with me so I'll break up with it, since it cant bring itself to break up with me. lovely.
Finally, and rather sadly they started to give up and go back inside. Except the neighbor boy (who finally let ME see what was going on. And ladies.. I kid you not, there was a FAT wire in the way. I moved it and PRESTO! It closed.
Head hung in man shame, he says to me, "I'm going to do two things right now. One, I'm going to clean up this mess we made. And two I'm going to ask for your number, because I want to take you to dinner"

:)

How Do YOU Do?

Recently Mr. X and I had a conversation via text. I spent the better part of my morning sneaking off to the back office, pocket responding, or taking extra trips to refill my water in order to text him back with friendly questions about how he has been, how his dating is going, and other such polite niceties such as those... However, not once did he ever ask how I was doing, how life had been treating me, or even so much as a "happy birthday".
Although I don't think the motivation to ask someone "How are you?" should be just so you can tell them how YOU are, I still think it is the polite thing to do in a conversation.
Don't you?
I sometimes think that I know the best way to..eat..travel..or even communicate, but I am sure there are times I slip up and make mistakes all over the place..
This is why I asked good friend and fellow blogger from Audry Onasiss to guest post for me today on some topics why may all need a little refresher course in. Audry is a beautiful and wickedly smart 20 something with a sharp sense of humor whom I am oh so lucky enough to know, and love. Enjoy!

***
Hello Readers!

I’m Ari, and I’m guest blogging over here today for Mighty Burns. I know that you love her like I do, so you can imagine how excited I am to be writing on her amazing blog.

If you follow my musings over on Audrey Onassis, then you probably have at least an inkling of my love of all thing etiquette. I’m no expert, but I have done a fair amount of reading on the topic.

Picture Mighty Burns took of me, looking like a lady (or something, ha!)

I’m pretty staunch when it comes to manners, so I thought it would be fun to share some of my views that would probably be considered backward by most.

Gift Registries

{via Callaloo Soup}

I was on the fence about these for some time, but I’ve recently taken a more firm stance on these ubiquitous lists. Gift registries are in poor taste. That’s right, I said it. Everyone knows that guests are required to give gifts to the newlyweds (preferably thoughtfully selected and sent before or after, and not brought to, the wedding), but many brides (and grooms, I suppose) treat these tokens of affection as a price of admission. Some even take it so far as to quote the price to their guests in the form of a Crate + Barrel registry. Begging isn’t cute.

A Facebook “Happy Birthday” Does Not Suffice

{via Busted Tees}

The fact that Facebook gives us friendly reminders to wish all of our friends a happy birthday is certainly convenient (especially for the absentminded among us- guilty!), but I can’t help feeling that it rather cheapens the sentiment. This may be totally unfounded, but I think that people slap a “Happy Birthday, so-and-so!” on a Facebook page and consider their social obligation met. The texted birthday wish is equally egregious. Email is okay; I’ve received some really lovely emails on past birthdays. Still, call me old-fashioned, but there is nearly nothing that brings a smile to my face quite like a birthday card or phone call.

It’s Never Okay to Bring an Uninvited Guest

{via Style Me Pretty}

I could see where the rise of technology and informality might make this one a tad messy, but I think the basic principles still apply. In the olden days (ha), it was easy to tell whom was invited to an event because their names were explicitly written on the invitation’s envelope. Now, though, it seems that invitees bring their own entertainment. It makes me sad to hear about brides cracking under the financial strain of their weddings, because they are under the impression that every single guest must be invited “plus one”. Haven’t these women heard of the “singles table”? I seem to have gone off on a tangent about invited guests, when what I meant to lament was the uninvited ones. When I was 17, my mother threw a bridal shower for one of our coworkers. Not only did this bride-to-be show up an hour and a half late to her own party, but she brought close to ten people that she hadn’t asked us to invite! Similarly (sort of), I was once invited to a bridal shower, but not the wedding (!), even though the bride had asked me to be a bridesmaid the day after she became engaged! Scandalous!

This list isn’t all-inclusive, I also always address letters to women using their married names, never buy pre-written greeting cards, and refuse to ask people their ages (even when I’m dying to know!) All of these things are just part of what makes me a crazy lady, I’m sure, but there is something so satisfying about all those rules and customs, don’t you think?

Thank you for reading my ramblings, and please stop by Audrey Onassis, where you are sure to find me discussing food, cats, or Miss Manners.
& P.S. just for fun, Guest Posting Etiquette! How did I do? :)

Nanny?

Ok Homies you KNOW I had to post these!
King B and Sir Jay Z announced last night at the VMAs that she is prego.
Um cutest kid ever!

This site said:
But the night belonged to Beyoncé, who had announced her pregnancy on the red carpet. During the middle of the show, she belted out "Love On Top." At the end of the performance, she rubbed her belly as her usually-serious husband, rapper Jay-Z, jumped out of his chair and cheered in the audience with Kanye West.

See her sing!! here

I feel like I need to be their nanny. B and I would bond over making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the mornings, and Jay Z would lend me his hats when I had bad hair days. I'd high five other staff members passing in the halls with their awesome baby strapped to my back, and Beyonce would call me B.. yeah. This totally needs to happen STAT.
{or in nine months}

Oh, but that line she says before she sang, "I want you all to feel the love growing inside of me"
Creepiest thing she could have possibly said.
... ever ...

My poor NYC! This weekend it was bitch slapped by Hurricane Irene. Boooo. Although many are without power until later tomorrow, most are fine and returning home. I know some may think I am nuts, but oh how I wish I was there during the storm!
First, I love storms!!!
Second, it would have been great bonding time with my new city and the people.
But no

 I was here.

Alright, so moving right along on this Monday, Monday {bah dah, dah dah dah dah} Are my newest love: the tweed wide leg trousers.
They are sadly not everywhere. but soon. I feel that once it is more...Autumn-ie they will take over the racks.
{please please please}

I really like this dress for Fall too..

How freaking adorable and wonderful are these sparkle pieces for Fall!!
I love them

I think My style for Fall this season is going to be a little.. business-ish. Which is odd since I don't work in that type of industry ... soooo not sure how I plan to pull these looks off.. but hey! if only in my head then whatevs right :)
oh and these Accessories too!

THE WEEKEND
My dear lovely friend Lou who you'd know from here, graduated this last Thursday from a very competitive nursing program!! She was totally adorable in her little white scrubs {sorry no pics} and on Friday I went to celebrate with her and her twin sis Underwood {who might be starting her own blog YAY!} and the little man {who giggled the entire time! Ugh Love}.
While we were eating I got a text from Shark asking if I was there at the resturant..? I sat up in the booth and looked around to spot him just behind us siting at the bar with his cousin.
Oh Lordy.
After my friends tagged him as a stage five clinger {bahaha} we paid our check and I stopped by to give my friendly hello. I'm really not sure whats happening there. He is in? He is out? Who can keep up? Playa runs hot and cold.
I am warming up to a date night with the Diamond Back very soon this week! Not sure what to do though... and the ball is sorta in my court.. ideas?

Umm the following is me drooling over these dresses. I love wedding dresses what can I say?!

Which is your favorite? They all remind me of a fairytail princess wedding!
*sigh*

Just keep Swimming, Just keep swimming

"A morning spent with cake, is a good day make!"

Ok so I totally made that up to feel less guilty about eating cake for the past three days lol. But hey its a good theory right?
*
On Friday night I had a good 'ol fashion slumber party with my gal pals and the occasion just HAD to call for cake don't you think? What else is better after three slices of pizza I ask you?
We watched movies, talked, laughed at our selves, and passed out!

The next day I woke up and made yummy cinnamon rolls for my friend and her adorable son. the Yum continues! I spent the next hour taking him to the park and following him around anywhere he went. ANYWHERE. Which means I now have bruises on my knees from crawling through giant plastic tunnels while dodging mystery "gunk" some child left behind for me to crawl through, and a burn on my side from the many trips down the awesome twisty slide that was also baking in the sun. non the less it was a blast and I would have stayed out there longer had a bug not flown and drowned in my water cup and he didn't have the need to "dig it out!" so I brought him home to his mother with sand in his hair, dirt on his face, and possibly a boat load of sand in his shoes.

That night I met a new friend out for a night of drink, chatter and dancing. it was.. the oddest night in a very long time. here are some high lights:

*My phone died. Like forever died. and if you have an iPhone then you know the PAIN of being without it. suddenly I didn't know what was was up ... what street I was on {Who looks up at street signs when you can just follow a blue dot?} ... or my name {who looks at their own id?}! Ahhh I needed my phone! This is also why no pictures are here for your viewing pleasure of the night or the awesome slumber party cake. oh well.
* The first club that has been THE place to be called Dirty Pretty, was so dead we got a free VIP booth, and we could actually hear each other!
*Our dj friend had us on the list for the club he was working but for some reason at this club everyone was rubbing their butt on me. I kid you not! There is an 80 cover band down stairs where a 40 something decided to park it in front of my. Quite literally I had to guard my drink from her hair! Yuck. Then heaven help me if they were playin her jam because I got violated. Yeck! We moved upstairs to the dj and dance floor where I had not one, not two, but three guys drop it like its hot on me lol.
*I had a birthday girl with a fun little hat do the same.. seriously people! I just want to make my way to the bar good lord!
*I had a guy just grab the back of my hair and start playing with my hair..? WHAT? I slowly turned around thinking MAYBE HOPEFULLY it was my dj friend just being a weirdo, but no. I had no clue who this clown was that had his hand in my hair and a smile on his face. he leaned in and said
"You have a lot of hair!"
 "Yes I do.."
"I bet your really hot huh!"
you know something.. I was!
"Yeah.. actually I am..thanks?"
"No problem man.. wow.. your hair smalls great!"
"Ok your done now"
*Resting our feeties on our way to another club we perched on a wall and chatted for awhile. the next thing you know there are two ambulances, a guy on the ground hand cuffed, and a fire truck with a giant flood light shinning on my new friend and I. Huh.. a girl to our right had an argument with managers of the club we were headed to about whether or not she "shattered a toilet seat".. keep in mind this girl weighed less then my hand bag. How in blazes does someone SHATTER a toilet seat? And who is touching toilet seats in clubs? Ugh man I avoid those babies like the plague... or that guy who touched my hair!
*

We decided at this point (1am) we had had enough. We agreed this was a supremely odd night, but fun none the less and happy we got some good face time in getting to know each other better.  Turns out I was totally right she is a blast! And a dependable fun dance like a maniac, can you please hold my purse while I fix my shoe, friendly oooo look at that guy! girl to go out with YAY!

Hope you all had a wonderful, safe, happy mothers day, no one sticks their hand in your hair weekend!

wedding weekend

As promised here are some pictures from my gorgeous friend Lisas wedding!

My Rrehearsal Dinner Dress
The dinner was at this great little Italian place. Lisas family and her fiance Richards family hadn't really met before so she had everyone get together for this dinner to mingle and get to know one another. Kids ran around and became fast friends, and I became fast friends with the canolies and bartender.. mmm.

My new dinner ring!
Isn't it so pretty!! I really like it because it looks glittery, but up close its really just a lot of grooves in metal so its kinda manly up close lol

This colorful breakfast ended up being the only thing I ate the day of the wedding at 8 am.. I do not reccomend this.. especially if you end up with champagine AND your drink of choice in both hands during most of the night

My inspiration for hair and make up

Me and my Lou a few minutes before her big entrance
I almost face planted and made her crack up laughing.. count on me to almost fall and break the tension in the room lol

Ok I know she is my friend.. but isn't she the most beautiful bride EVER!
I could not stop gazing at her the entire day.. she was so happy and beaming.

My Faith Hill Perfume

My earings

The center pieces

Ek! My "Before" shot

A horrid picture of a picture, but only shot of just us three bridesmaids

Underwood putting on her twin sisters pretty shoes for the day

So I kinda had to put the photographer in his place.
Jeff.. or Joe.. or who ever the guy is becuase he literaly said to me:
"Bridgette I am going to punch you if you don't smile!"
Said to me right before this shot where he told me I had to "smush in" the shot becuase the sun was directly IN my eyes the entire time..

The beautiful couple!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Back Up

I am happy to be back up on two feet and feeling much better!

This past weekend I layed out to try and catch a few flattering rays for the wedding I am in in 13 more days!!
Unfortunatly, I fell asleep out side and got burnt {"It was the badly burnt Albaninian boy..."- Flight Of the Conchords} .. not too bunrt though mostly just dehydrated. And man it wasn't messing around. I was pretty much in bed with a Gaterade IV for the most of SUnday Monday Tuesday Wednesday. BUT NOT TODAY! WOOOHOOO!

I looked back at a few of my texts, emails, and status comments and I am certain that my sick self is much much more of a weirdo then my healthy self.

Example:
FB status update by S: Your crazy Friday nights are my Monday nights..
BOFamily comment: Sweet so then you had a Twilight marathon too then? Good deal.

She thought it was hilarious but I swear to you that I did just watch all three Twilight films lol
{AND LOVED IT! }

emails my friends had to endure:
So I'm still not feeling well. And true to "sick Bridgette" days I am now having a twilight marathon! hizah! {see!} The need to vomit is a tiny bit less for a few:). Hope your day is better than mine girlie.
Ps I will not be tan for ur wedding as I will never lay out again.
That's a lie.
But I will never lay out for longer than twenty min at a time.
With high amounts of sun block.
And coolers full of light purple Gatorade.
Also. Did u know my iPhone has Gatorade in it's guess text?
Weird.
I wonder if certain brands pay for that? Do u think? Liiiiiike ... Coke. Yep pepsi oooo pepsi didn't. Stupid stupid pepsi your missing out. I'd waaaaay rather have a coke now and NOT a pepsi becuase if my iPhone doesn't like enough to remember it then fuck it right?
Thoughts of a sick person~B

Ugh.. my poor friends. But none the less Im still plucking along doing the usual...

I am getting so excited preparing for my friend Lous' wedding!!! We have a girls night/bacholorett party this weekend, we'll have another girls night with just the twins and myself right before the wedding {the TriPod as they call us} Manicures, hair appointments and all things girlie will happen in one quick flash I am sure as the day is upon us.
She sent me pictures from her trial hair and make up session and ladies.. she looks freaking STUNNING! Sooo beautiful!
Can't wait!
;) There might also be a sneak post wedding massage for the MOH and I to destress ;)

I am also continuing the fight to be able to creat my perfect braided crown. its sooo much harder then it looks my goodness! But dring all these trials my hair sure looks nice and wavey these days !!

So tell me.. what have you been up to?

To the Moms and Mommas to be

My adorable friend Underwood sent my mom an email with a few questions in reguards to parenting for a class she is taking.

I asked my mom to forward me the email while we were talking the other night about my general lack of direction in life, and my flighty ideals on how I think my life "should" be. (pssst the word "should".. I hate it!) {"Are we shoulding all over ourselves?"-CB S&C}

Her advice as per usual, is wonderful and full of love. She recalled a conversation with a sibling who after watching a tv program asked her if he could be a clown. I loved her responce because it isn't just, "yeah" "sure why not", but encouraged and pointed out the things he is good at that would make him good at his new found goal.
*
***
My moms endless support and laughter is one of the many thing I love and find comfort in.
***
*
I know I have a few mommy/mommy to be readers out there so I thought I would share those Q/As with you too! They are about the five of us kids, all very honest and definatly from the heart...

Enjoy and don't hesitate to give your 2cents too! You can post or email me your answers to this questions if you are so inspired to, I am loving the way I have opened up to children and the idea of being a maybe momma myself.

1. What are your fondest memories?

My fondest memories are those where I was amazed by their individuality, their
purity and innocence, and the fascinating questions and observations they had. I
was in awe that they were mine, given to me to care for - for as long as they
needed me.

2. What were the biggest challenges in parenting your children?

My biggest challenge is that I was a single parent from the time my oldest was
12 and my youngest 2. Consequently, my decisions had paramount impact on them
and I was deeply aware of this. Secondly, the drug culture tip-toed into the
life of one of my children and I found myself terrified. As noted above, my
decisions, every single one of them was mede with love, and with their
best interest in my heart.

3. Would you do anything differently if you could go back in time?

I would have left my marriage sooner. Had I done that, the negative impact of
their father would have been much less. However, one cannot do something until
they are Positive it is the right move. I "replayed" that decision over and
over in my mind for years after having left. Each time I came to the answer,
"yes it was the right decision to break up this family." But in my own process
of having to know if it was right for all of us... I let it last years longer
than I should have. I only learned this in retrospect.

4. What are the most important things to teach your children so that they will grow up to be successful in their relationships and chosen career?

I believe that children are amazing, if only we will let them be. It was always
my intention and my prayer, and my purpose to suppot them in whatever endeavor
they even mentioned. Once my young child (3 years old) had watched a TV show
where the circus came to town. Afterward, he came to me and asked me if he
could be a clown when he grew up... I told him, 'Absolutely! you're a funny guy,
you'd be a great clown!" then he asked me if his favorite stuffed bear could be
an elephant... I said, "he certainly can!!" and so, no matter the age, the question, the direction, I supported their ideas  (often knowing it would never happen) but never-ever telling them that. Right
up to planning a financial strategy of getting one of them into a university (I
knew would never happen) but that they were so interested in, I sat and planned
and talked money and effort and scholastic ability and we made a graph and a
list of what was needed. That child did not go to that universtiy, but not
surprisingly, his achievements far surpassed that idea at that time.
Each of my children has taken my breath away with their creativity and their
pursuit of who they are.

Regarding relationships: I taught them to always be honest, becasue once trust
was broken, it is near impossible to ever have that person trust you again, no
matter how sorry you are or how many years you try to prove it... secondly, to
think of others... that although we are each important, helping others and
Loving as we go are our reasons for being here.

5. What advice would you give parents today?

Chill the 'f' out.
Talk to your children; don't just believe what you hear about them. Ask them
directly. Then talk about it. And most importantly, do whatever you do, with
love. whether you speak it, show it, give it in silence...get the message
across. Without love, children are lost.

6. What did they do for their career while they were raising their family (i.e.
full-time homemaker, teacher, policeman, sales, etc.).

I was a single mother who was committed to doing whatever it took to keep
employeed and provide a good home: I was a homeaker always...and I was a
waitress; a school bus driver; I worked front office for an audiologist who took
a chance on me and because of that office experience, I was able to graduate in
salary to law offices; medical facilities; mental health offices; dementia units
in hospitals; to virtually being hospice nurse to my own mother; to medical

offices again.
I am presently a pod manager for a very busy family practice office within a
medical group in chico ca.

Thank you so much!
you are welcome my dear girl. i hope this helps your project in some way :)

I blush

Now this post is a bit like rubbing your stomach while patting your head, as none of the pictures have anything to do with the blush worthy story I am about to tell you..

When I lived in Northern Cali I worked at a medical office for six years and became very close to many of the woman who worked there.. I often got that "let me set you up with my.." feel free to choose from the following list:
Nephew
Son
Neighbor
patient

I never felt dateless but apparently other people felt it lol.
I turned down each one, plus I was about to move people common now whats the point in that? (hmm sound familiar? yeah I know)

A year after I graduated from high school I was getting ready to make my big independent move out to Az. On another last night hoopla with my two best friends we went to a party and had a pretty ok time.. silliness was abundant, and music loud.. good times were had.
I started to talk to this one guy though who was pretty cute, when suddenly my friends needed to go! like NOW! well knowing girl code+party drama= I had to leave no matter what
boo.
I decided to F That and to jog back and slightly, ok totes attack this guy a'la quick make out.
when i finally released the poor guy he asked for my number

I know right.. awwww so cute!
but NO! I am moving. Which I told him
(ps lived under rock and didn't get cell until I moved to Az and had to)
I ran back to meet up with my girlies and decided that as the sun was coming up it was only right that we go eat breakfast and just stay out the entire night.. which was a good call.. 4am pancakes are always the right choice.

The next day I had another good by meeting at a co worker and friends house with my mom, friend and ex boss Elle my soon to be sister in law and a few other office friends.

I share everything with my mom.. especially when she is eye balling me arrive home in last night clothes at 6am bright eyed and bushy tailed (as she says-yeah she is adorable) so she knew the details of the night and gave me a wink of a "thata girl" approval.

The little gathering was nice. Margaritas (sure I was only 19 but it was fine) too many slightly hung over cigarettes ( I know I quite already :) and shower was pretty much my chilled standing at this point.

Son though my frosty drink bliss and smokers calm  was frazzled when I saw cute guys picture on the mantel..
this was our hosts son.. awesome
the son who would be home soon.. bonus
the son in which my mother could NOT wait to meet.. score.

after many failed threats to poke my mothers eyes out, both left and right she called him over when he got home and introduced us all the while giggling, smiling with her little rosy cocktails cheeks and making those giant eyes at Elle.. who was also already filled in at this point and Love.ing.it.

I hid behind my frosty glass for as long as I could, but finally had to fess up but luckily he played along, "its nice to meet you" he said but fml he dropped the act when my mom went for more berries and nuts (my mom snacks like a tree squirrel.. a cute one fo sho tho) and had to ask if I in fact :
was at the party last night?
(my shame full head nod said yes..)
and I am moving this weekend?
(more nods)
OH YOUR Cathys daughter
(F.. yes more nods...)

it was pretty much left at that. and folks it aint over.

a wedding in northern cali has me thinking I might want a date for the night. I mean sure why not. When I told my mom and Elle I might bring Mr. X up with me since we are still good friends, and he is a lot of fun...
the plot to contact the host and have her have HIM take me was hatched..

my fb inbox tells me the call has been made..
ladies please join me in now holding your breath..

-creeper cat staking me in my car.. dude!
