Say cheese

OceanSide, Ca
2011

On Thursday I took to the road in my sisters car and headed for California for the weekend!
My Grandpa {J.P. Buckley} turned a feisty 90 years old.
To celebrate the occasion cousins, aunts, uncles, and great grand children gathered from all around the state and country.

Uncle Phil, Trish, My momma, Mary, Maggie, Grandpa, Pauline, Tom and Ann
Missing from the photo is my Uncle Jim who passed away and my Uncle Dan who couldn't make it.

Since my sister and I arrived a tad early we lounged at the beach as much as possible the first two days. it was glorious!

Apparently there was some earthquake near New Zealand again {boooo} and the waves were just reaching our coast line.. the waves were giant! Powerful, and beautiful.

Although... in these picture they look pretty tame :)

The Birthday Man and one of my many beautiful cousins, Eilee.

Our Happy Birthday message to our nephew Forrest who turned four on the same day, and couldn't make it down :/

My sister and I watching our Grandpa read our card.
{He posed us! Ha I love it!!}

(my favorite shot from the beach that day)

My favorite shot of my sister Mgrace {left} and I {right} on a walk...

Their hill top home in San Marcos, Ca is literally my favorite place to be in this world.
The breeze is cool and flows through the white linen curtains tied back with soft ribbon and into the house. My grandpa plays big band music while we all choose our cocktail {at 3pm!} and settle in around the house to catch up with each other. It is so peaceful, and sweet with small flower blooms and friendly bees that buzz about doing their work. Walks around the block to stretch your legs and work down the latest snack we have all just attacked and devoured!

no make up = far away shots
Trips to the beach are easy and nice since OceanSide is about ten minutes away.
The pier was swaying that day from the waves!
I look a smidgen snob ish in the photo but I assure you its just the sun in my eyes!

Big. Pretty. Waves.

Dolphins were playing under the pier the second day!
{obvs couldn't get the best shot}

I received sweet texts from Diamond Backs while I was away, and a Happy Birthday wish for my Grandpa too! I received one very odd and random text from Shark late one night.. haven't heard a peep since.. hmmm?

That's it for now, I'll be back {OH! I'll Be back!} with more posts, updates, and fun! And perhaps a giveaway!!!

Mmmmwaaahhh!

.calm

I found this picture today saved in a blank post. I don't recall what I intended to say along side it. But I do know that right now when I see this picture it takes me right to the place I want to be. The beach. The waters edge and happy.

On this trip to Venice, Ca my mom and I took some time to walk the beach while my sister was busy with errands before a school production. She lived really close to the beach then.

I was so happy to see my big sis in a new town. It was her town then and I still think of Venice as hers. She didn't even stay there long before moving closer to school in Hollywood. But still.

My mom and I bought these awesome shirts from a guy literally in a closet off of the strip. The shirt is a super 80's muscle tank top, that for a lady cuts in dangerously around the chest. But I love it. It is, what I call, electric shock blue {again very 80's colors} and has a giant "J" on the left. From that J there are four names spelled out...
Jimmy [Hendricks of course]
Janice [Joplin]
Jim [Morris]
John [Lennon]
their faces can be seen in the lettering of their names...

its super groovy.
and my mom has a groovy green one to match :) she's bomb..

Fly Away Home

Yes, that movie was awesome but it isn't what I am talking about here today :) Although, I would never pass up a chance to fly ducks in a crazy dangerous contraption in their migration patterns... never.
No. What I am talking about is a road trip. Which must be said in a some what sing song tone Oprah announcing style, rrrrrroadTRIP!

Yes I need the wind in my hair and radio blasting more than ever these days.

Maybe a trip to a beach I haven't been to yet to people watch and nap the days away..

or maybe to deep into the Forrest to camp in front of a lake or river...
I definitely need some water, cool breezes, warm days in the sun, chilly nights around a fire, and some R&R!

I don't want to hear a phone. Don't want to hear a text chime. I don't want to hear any complaining or nagging. Don't want to hear any negativity.

I just want to hear birds chirping (I know see... I'm in bad shape when I am welcoming birds lol) wind through Pine Trees, water on the shore line, and my own breath going in... and out..

Currently, and who am I kidding-forever will I be- I am obsessing over Barbra of course.
I am continuing to fill my Netflix Que with her movies and concerts. Last night I found this clip of she and Judy Garland.
It is such a perfect mash up for the two of them.

It is my Happy song!

I hope that you are all well and
Happy!

Blog Worthy

ok I have never cried AT work BECAUSE of work. Until today.  Luckily I was able to "loose" it a little with a friend on the phone.. but sheesh, I need this night out more and more as my day goes on! I sincerly hope that you are all having a wonderful Friday, and are getting excited for your weekend party plans, or movie marathons!

Here are the two things getting me thru the next two hours:

This is my grandmothers bracelet. It is helping me to remember that these people are someones grandparent. And in no way would I be happy if someone gave my grandparents sass.
And also for those times when I can NOT see my grandparents in a patient, because I KNOW my grandma would be rollin her eyes at their behavior too! lol

Awwwww the beach!
warm sand, feet dug in waves crashing, throwing seaweed at the birds to stay away..

awww yes the beach :)
Soon..soon.
as soon as and i mean as soon as it is warm enough I'll be headed to my Grandpas place to hang out with him, and clean a little, and soak up the beach for as many afternoons as I can score!!

Leaving you with beachy thoughts instead of bitchy ones...

Burns.

Day Three, Day Four..

I am going to do Day Three and Day Four this morning since I spent the weekend tucked into my cozy bed, and plunked on the sofas and floors of friends.

Friday night I made a fresh, from scratch Blackberry pie! I made it with the help and steady hands of one of my best friends Ari, lattise top and all. Mmmmm pie

Day Three: Eight things I could not live without (in no real order)…

1. My family! Every single last one of um right down to the pets and goldfish down thru time.

2. Music. I love music. Have been in love with music.

3. Breezes. I love a nice cool breeze any old time *sigh*

4. The ocean. I love the beach and laying out and feeling the sun soak into my skin, but I love to swim in the ocean and feel the waves of water rolling under, and all around me. I like to feel like a small thing in the presence of something greater.. which is also a reason why I love big cities.

5. Food. More specifically cheesy foods lol. Oh man. Cheese and I go waaaaay back. I think the flavor and variety are enough to wake up for in the morning.. yum!

6. Festivals. I love the gathering of all different kinds of people that come together for one common interest or love of art, music, or camping. I love to people watch and be able to sing along to my favorite songs bare foot, makeup less, free and happy with a complete stranger who is doing the same that might just happen to be a hippie, a preppy or biker. I just love it what else can I say

7. All things girlie and feminine. Ruffle tops, soft cotton night gowns, sparkly head bands, lip stick, nail polish, heals, dresses, fresh hair cuts, long lashes, new earings, lace curtins, fresh flowers, smell good candles and soooo much more.

(image sampled from Sweebie's Spot)

8. Passion. I think it is the drive in everyone! I really respect those who have passion for what they do in life, for who they love, and how they live. I feel so low when I can’t find my passion, it is the key do be doing anything correctly. I really believe that if your doing it with passion then you’ll have the outcome you want.

Day Four: Seven things that cross my mind a lot…

1. Travel. When will I travel, when will I be able to go see Greece, Venice and Paris? How many trips will I end up going on thru out my life, since there are so many many places I want to see? Oooo Places I want to see…

2. Mmmmm you know what I want to eat right now…

3. Ok if I save this much each month, and I could move to New York when??

4. Oh my (brother/sister) is adorable! I can’t wait to see them!

5. Bills, bills, bills. Doctors appoints that I need to pay for.

6. Oh man I am TIRED

7. Ok, starting today is my new diet and exercise plan I swear!!!

Well for the last week I have been eating better and working out little by little. Today I plan to swim with ankle weights, and a resistance band around my waist . Then I’m off to get a manicure. I am spending the evening giving my mom a trim and watching Gossip Girl. I think I’ll swim Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Weigh in is on Friday October 1st at 2:30pm! Cross your fingers for me !!

The most random of Mondays

Let me just say I am a rambler extraordinaire! No, really... I am. I can go off topic like you wouldn't believe! Tangents, long involved stories, estranged and irrelevant references. Entertaining, sure. Productive, not so much. but this is just the stuff that makes it out of my head and into the world to pass off as conversation on Mondays such as this. The kind of Monday that now matter how hard I try to focus my mind, it just blurs from random thought to random memories.
                                               *
As a treat I've decided to let you in to such madness... here is a collection of my random thoughts for this particularly blurry Monday:

Wish List items for the summer/fall months
Dress from Mod Cloth, Coat and dress below VS
*

Can picture a night out on the town in this dress, and jacket both VS. Will I be in a Betty Boop pose all night to make it cute... probably not.

*
These pictures are so beautiful! I love her simple make up and I love dark lips!! They perk up any 'ol Monday. Can't wait to be back in love.

*
These pictures from Style Me Pretty are inspiration for my new room. Love the light color and girlie and beach feel of the movement in the pictures.

*
Flashing back to Now and Then with a friend today, which then led me to ponder on how hot I thought Casper was, another Ricci fav.

Top Five best parts, and lines in Now and Then decided upon by yours truly and my bestie:
*Bonus moment : Roberta kisses cute boy next door, and stops taping her boobs down. Good for your Roberta!
5."Ah Sugar" playing while a gaggle of girls ride their bikes full steam ahead down the road
4. Chrissy in opening credits prego and rockin' the baby bump while she sings along to "I'll be there". "Just look over your shoulder hunny, OOOO!"
3.The nutty grandma vacuuming under the girls feet while fixing her "bingo wig" and they finish their lemonade
2.Sam knocking out the trash talking kid on the baseball field
1. "Bug?" "No Budd. B. B.U.D.D." "Well Budd, You have some food stuck in your teeth"

Enjoy!

To Mexico I Go

Friends of mine and I went to Mexico for five days and four nights! We left in the wee hours of the morning.. ok more like 8am, and made our way across the already 90 degree Arizona desert. We arrived at our resort which was on the seventh floor and beach front, around lunch time. I was the first one in the water. I love the ocean, any ocean.. we all go way back..

I feel so lucky to have gone. Unfortunately, the work week has kicked my butt each day. So I am now looking forward to my long weekend in San Diego this week! I'll be visiting with aunts, cousins, and my wonderful Grandpa. I know another trip to be beach is a must!

I went to Mexico with my beautiful and long time friend, we'll call her "Underwood" ;), my fellow and his friend.. we'll call him..."Wishie-Washy". The four of us literally played and swam in the water for hours. We spent the next few days getting up around 7:30, blasting music thru the condo with the giant slider doors open and eating breakfast on the balcony that over looked the ocean. We would spend about two hours on the beach, then another two hours by the pool. Showers and naps usually around five, then out to dinner and drinks at a local watering hole. We would spend the last few hours of the night back on the balcony, doors open wide, curtains blowing in the breeze, listening to the waves below.

I really loved the mornings here. There is nothing, nothing like opening your eyes and seeing the beautiful blue ocean out in front of you. I love the smell. Not everyone likes the seaweed, and salty water smells. But for me they are so comforting. I have taken many naps on the beach, and have taken comfort many times in listening to the ocean waves.
I grew up the youngest child out of five. One of the things we did together was take walks in the evening after dinner. Long walks were we would break off and group together talking about our days, school crush, or any upsets. I carry this tradition to this day and loved to walk on the beach each night. Sun already set, leaving the sky and water with a purple shadow. I found lots of beautiful shells on these walks!

More pictures of that trip to follow on Monday...
